As one of the oldest industrial companies in Germany, STAEDTLER takes advantage of the great tradition of Nuremberg pencilmakers, centuries of experience and particular advances in research and development to manufacture innovative products of the highest brand quality.

 

As early as 1662 Friedrich Staedtler, a forefather of the company’s founder Johann Sebastian Staedtler is mentioned in the records of the City of Nuremberg as a "Bleiweißsteftmacher" or lead-pencil maker.

Now we have succeeded in developing a revolutionary new product, with which the tradition of pencil-writing will be continued.


WOPEX is a blacklead pencil from STAEDTLER's latest generation products.

The innovative natural fibre WOPEX material sets a new standard because it allows a highly efficient pencil production with wood pencil extrusion using 70 % wood - naturally "Made in Germany“.

 

Consequently, we can achieve a significantly higher utilisation of wood from each tree with German wood from certified, sustainably managed forests and efficient routes of transportation.

... so new und already awarded - our WOPEX blacklead pencil has been priced with the "Design Plus" design award at the "Material Vision" trade fair in Frankfurt/Main in Germany for its unique and highly innovative design.

 

An interdisciplinary jury of experts assessed the entries on the basis of the following criteria: design quality, choice of materials, utility value, technical quality, ecological quality / sustainability and the products' overall concept.
