Five decades of quality: Longlife Design Award for the STAEDTLER^® Lumocolor^® permanent universal pen

This year once again, a high-quality STAEDTLER product has been distinguished with a highly-renowned design award.
The STAEDTLER Lumocolor permanent universal pen has been awarded with the Busse Longlife Design Award 2005.

The pen, a perfect all-rounder even when used on tricky or smooth surfaces, celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.
The STAEDTLER Lumocolor pen is one of the company's most successful products with a 70% market share in Germany, market leadership in Europe and market presence in over 150 countries around the globe.

The design and functionality of STAEDTLER Lumocolor products have been consistently improved and enhanced over the course of the past fifty years. Today, the range comprises eight line widths in up to eight colours and includes flipchart and whiteboard markers as well as dry markers.

All criteria for the Busse Longlife Award 2005 such as safe technical function, cost-efficient production, more or less self-explanatory ergonomics and a design geared to the respective target group are fully satisfied by the STAEDTLER Lumocolor.

For STAEDTLER - whose success story as a modern industrial company began with foundation of a pencil-making factory in Nuremberg back in 1835 - the Busse Longlife Design Award is yet another distinction to add to the many national and international prizes already received - including the Canadian Toy Testing Council award, Red Dot Design Award and International Design Prize Baden-Wuerttemberg.

“Over the course of the past years, we have been delighted to have been distinguished with a number of highly-renowned awards for a whole variety of different articles from our extensive range of products,“ said Alexander Stier, head of international marketing, at the award ceremony in Nuremberg.

On the contrary, our aims remain unchanged: the enhancement of existing STAEDTLER products, development of new ones and concentration on a high-quality ‘Made in Germany’ production. This has been the company’s secret to success for the past 170 years and will continue to be so in the future as well!”
