What is FIMO, and how is it made?
|
STAEDTLER FIMO is an oven baked polymer clay. It is only produced in STAEDTLER's factory in Neumarkt, Germany.
The ingredients are placed in a mixing machine to produce a paste, this is extruded into long strips of FIMO, cut into blocks, cellophane wrapped and packed into boxes.
These are then exported to almost every country in the world.

Is there a way to rejuvenate old, crumbly FIMO?
|
STAEDTLER stocks a product called 'Mix Quick' that softens old FIMO and increases flexibility.

How do you know when baked FIMO is ready?
|
Follow the instructions on the packet and bake your item for 130ø C / 265ø F for 30 minutes.

Can you bake FIMO in the oven at the same time as food?
|
No, you should always bake FIMO on its own in the oven.

Is FIMO toxic?
|
FIMO is non-toxic and carries the CE mark. However, care should be taken when baking as overheating (burning) can produce a gas.

Can you paint FIMO?
|
Yes, you can, using any water based acrylic paint. However, FIMO colours can easily be mixed and blended, producing wonderful results.

Will FIMO air dry?
|
FIMO classic, FIMO soft and FIMO effect must be baked in the oven to harden. However, we also offer our air-drying alternative FIMOair.
